Cohere launches North 2, giving its AI agents memory and tighter controls

Cohere has rolled out North 2, an upgrade to its agentic AI platform. It adds persistent memory, expanded administrative controls, and shared libraries, with the goal of helping organizations manage and secure agents across the entire company rather than one team at a time. The headline feature is persistent memory. An agent can now retain context over time, so users do not have to re-explain their situation every time they open a new session. Shared libraries are the second big piece. Teams can pool resources across different types of content, and Cohere has added cross-type sharing alongside beta API access to these libraries. North 2 introduces new administrative roles, including a Library Access Manager, plus compliance-focused positions.
