Cloud9 Valorant reinstates v1c ahead of VCT Americas Stage 2

1 hour ago 1

Victor “v1c” Truong is back on Cloud9’s Valorant roster, just two months after stepping away from the team to take a break from competitive play. The reinstatement, confirmed on July 10, 2026, comes less than a week before VCT Americas Stage 2 kicks off on July 16.

What happened and why it matters

Here’s the timeline. Truong departed Cloud9 on May 8, 2026, publicly citing the need for a break from competition. He then spent time with Azure Dragon Gaming in what amounted to an interim stint. Now he’s back with the organization where he spent the bulk of his competitive career, from October 2024 through his departure earlier this year.

Cloud9’s first match in VCT Americas Stage 2 is against Sentinels. During his previous run with Cloud9, Truong helped the team secure a 4th-place finish in VCT 2025 Americas Stage 2, one of the organization’s stronger showings in recent Valorant competition. The confirmation came via the official VALORANT Champions Tour account on X.

Truong, born December 31, 2004, is still just 21 years old. Cloud9 also recorded a 6th-place finish in the 2026 Americas Kickoff event, and his return is aimed at improving upon that modest performance heading into Stage 2.

The competitive landscape

VCT Americas Stage 2 group stage begins July 16, 2026, with Cloud9’s opening match against Sentinels. Sentinels consistently attract some of the largest viewership numbers in North American Valorant, meaning Cloud9’s performance in that match will be scrutinized by fans, analysts, and sponsors alike.
