Chelsea’s youth spending spree continues as club locks down 17-year-old Scottish defender

1 hour ago 2

Chelsea has finalized a deal to sign 17-year-old center-back Alfie Osborne from Scottish club Hearts FC. Osborne, who stands 6ft 4in and captained Scotland’s U19 side, completed his medical and signed a long-term contract with the London club. The compensation fee is estimated between £160,000 and £250,000.

Osborne’s contract at Hearts was expiring in summer 2026, which meant Chelsea could acquire him for a modest compensation fee rather than a full transfer sum. Scouts from Arsenal, Manchester City, and Crystal Palace were all monitoring his performances as early as March 2026. Chelsea won the race.

Chelsea’s broader business model includes partnerships with various digital platforms and crypto entities, though this particular transfer has no connection to any blockchain or digital asset activity.
