Chelsea has shut the door on AS Roma’s attempt to take Jamie Bynoe-Gittens on loan this summer, making it clear the 21-year-old winger remains a core part of the club’s plans heading into the 2026/27 season under Xabi Alonso. The rejection came on August 22 and wasn’t a surprise given the investment Chelsea made to bring Gittens to Stamford Bridge. A rough debut, but Chelsea isn’t flinching Gittens arrived from Borussia Dortmund in July 2025 for a fee reported between £48.5m and £55m, with add-ons potentially pushing the total higher.
