Cerebras shares slip below their $185 IPO price after a blockbuster debut

In May, Cerebras Systems had one of the flashiest market debuts of the year. Five months later, its stock trades below the price institutional buyers paid before the opening bell. The AI chip designer priced its initial public offering at $185 per share. By early October 2026, shares were changing hands between $164 and $177, with the stock recently sitting around $165. That is a long way down from the $350 opening print. Early buyers who chased the debut are now holding something worth less than half that figure. From a 68% pop to underwater Cerebras set its IPO price on May 13, 2026. It sold 30 million shares and raised $5.55 billion in the process. The deal gave the company a fully diluted valuation of approximately $56.43 billion. It also made the listing the largest US technology IPO of the year up to that point. Trading under the ticker CBRS on Nasdaq, the stock opened at $350. It finished its first session at $311, a 68% gain over the offer price.
