Celtic’s pursuit of Qarabag striker Camilo Duran highlights how European football’s transfer market keeps growing

9 hours ago 1

Celtic FC is in negotiations to sign Colombian forward Camilo Duran from Azerbaijani club Qarabag FK, with reports suggesting a transfer fee in the range of £2 million to £2.5 million. The deal, if completed, would add a 24-year-old striker with five Champions League goals this season to Celtic’s attacking options under manager Martin O’Neill.

The deal on the table

Duran, born on February 10, 2002, joined Qarabag in August 2025. He’s under contract with the Azerbaijani side until June 30, 2028, which gives Qarabag leverage in any negotiation.

His Transfermarkt market value sits at €2 million, roughly in line with the reported asking price.

Five goals in the Champions League campaign is a meaningful stat for a player at a club of Qarabag’s profile.

Celtic’s interest makes strategic sense. The club is reportedly looking to add at least two new strikers ahead of the upcoming season.
