BNY Mellon gathered nearly 400 employees to watch pitches at an internal demo day, a sign that the 240-year-old institution is pushing AI adoption well beyond the pilot stage. The event reflects a broader initiative at BNY to embed agentic AI, meaning AI systems that can independently take actions and make decisions, into the daily workflows of one of the world’s largest custodian banks. For a company that holds roughly $50 trillion in assets under custody, the move from experimenting with chatbots to deploying autonomous agents across trading, compliance, and client services represents a meaningful strategic shift.
