Bittensor outlines roadmap for full-stack intelligence network

Bittensor is laying out an ambitious blueprint to become what it calls a “full-stack intelligence network,” one where dozens of specialized subnets trade services with each other, generate real revenue, and gradually shed centralized control. The vision, detailed during Steeves’ keynote at the Exploit Summit on September 28-29, 2026, describes a network where subnets covering data, compute, storage, pretraining, inference, and AI agent functionality don’t just coexist. They do business with each other. The subnet economy starts making money As of August and September 2026, 24 subnets are estimated to generate between $28 million and $35 million in annualized external revenue. That’s money coming in from outside the network. Some subnets are pulling their weight more than others. Compute-focused subnets like Lium SN51 and Chutes SN64 are reportedly earning more from external customers than they receive in TAO emissions. Of the 24 revenue-generating subnets, 14 are channeling proceeds into buybacks of their own alpha tokens. Enterprise adoption adds credibility to the revenue claims.
