Bitget pulled in $231 million in deposits over a 24-hour period on September 30, a figure that sits roughly 6% below the exchange’s August daily average of $245 million. The deposit number lands just six days after Bitget suffered one of the largest centralized exchange hacks of 2026, losing an estimated $387.5 to $390 million when attackers exploited spoofed internal transfer requests to drain funds from hot and warm wallets. The hack, the freeze, and the flood of withdrawals On September 24, Bitget’s security infrastructure was compromised through what amounted to a sophisticated forgery operation. Attackers fabricated internal transfer requests that the system treated as legitimate, funneling nearly $390 million out of the exchange’s more accessible wallet layers. Bitget froze withdrawals, conducted an internal audit, and began a phased reopening of withdrawals starting September 28.
