Cristian Romero will not be moving to Barcelona. Manager Hansi Flick confirmed the club has decided against pursuing the Argentine defender, drawing a line under a transfer saga that dragged through much of July and into early August 2026. Interest in Romero had been circulating since the summer window opened, with a deal in the region of €50 million floated as the potential price tag for the Tottenham Hotspur centre-back. Romero, for his part, reportedly held off on other offers while Barcelona’s deliberations continued.
