Barcelona rules out Cristian Romero transfer as Flick backs current defensive options

Cristian Romero will not be moving to Barcelona. Manager Hansi Flick confirmed the club has decided against pursuing the Argentine defender, drawing a line under a transfer saga that dragged through much of July and into early August 2026. Interest in Romero had been circulating since the summer window opened, with a deal in the region of €50 million floated as the potential price tag for the Tottenham Hotspur centre-back.
