AT&T Stadium hosts World Cup clash as crypto sponsors and fan tokens reshape the tournament

1 hour ago 1

The FIFA World Cup 2026 has arrived in North Texas, and AT&T Stadium is doing its part. The venue, temporarily rebranded as Dallas Stadium for the tournament, is hosting nine matches across the competition, including a Round of 32 showdown between Australia and Egypt on July 3, 2026, with kickoff set for 1:00 PM CT.

The stadium, which normally seats 94,000 for NFL games, has been reconfigured for soccer. The result is one of the largest World Cup venues on the continent.

Kraken, fan tokens, and the commercialization of the beautiful game

FIFA announced Kraken as its Official Crypto Exchange Supporter on June 9, 2026. That is a first for a World Cup, and the kind of headline-level partnership that signals institutional sports marketing has decided crypto is no longer a reputational liability.

Kraken’s role as an official supporter puts it alongside traditional sponsors in one of the most-watched media environments on the planet.

LBank, a separate crypto exchange, also moved into the tournament’s hospitality layer. The platform hosted a VIP matchday experience at AT&T Stadium on June 22, tied to the Argentina vs. Austria group-stage match.

Sixteen thousand tokens and counting

The fan token story is where things get genuinely strange, in an interesting way. Over 16,000 World Cup-themed tokens have been launched on the Solana blockchain ahead of the tournament.

The more structured end of the fan token market sits with the Chiliz and Socios platform, which has issued official national team tokens including $ARG for Argentina, $POR for Portugal, and $BELG for Belgium. These are the tokens with actual team backing, giving holders access to voting rights on minor club decisions, exclusive content, and merchandise discounts, depending on the specific token’s terms.

AT&T Stadium’s July 14 semifinal slot adds another layer to the Dallas market’s exposure to all of this.
