Arthur Hayes returns to lead Flop Labs AI network

BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes said on Aug. 18 that he was “coming out of retirement” to lead Flop Labs, a new project developing blockchain infrastructure for artificial intelligence agents. Hayes said in an announcement that the network’s native FLOP token would launch without a presale or venture capital allocation. He described the distribution as a “100% fair launch.” Flop Labs expects to conduct an airdrop during the fourth quarter of 2026. The project is targeting the first quarter of 2027 for Flop Network’s genesis block, although neither date is final. Arthur Hayes takes an operating role at Flop Labs Arthur Hayes said he would “lead” Flop Labs but did not describe his responsibilities, ownership position or compensation. His X profile now identifies him as the company’s chief executive while retaining his position as chief investment officer at Maelstrom.
