Yuga Labs drops LayerZero in favor of Chainlink's interoperability protocol after a $292 million bridge exploit reshaped the cross-chain security conversation ApeChain is swapping out its entire cross-chain plumbing. The network announced on November 4, 2026 that it is replacing LayerZero with Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, known as CCIP, and establishing it as the canonical bridging standard across the full Yuga Labs ecosystem. That means every project under the Yuga umbrella, including the Bored Ape Yacht Club, operates under a single interoperability framework going forward. What is actually changing ApeChain runs as an Arbitrum Orbit layer-3 chain built specifically for the ApeCoin ecosystem. It previously relied on LayerZero for all its messaging and bridging work, the layer that lets tokens and data move between blockchains. Under the new setup, both $APE, the network’s native gas token, and $USDC will be upgraded to Chainlink Cross-Chain Tokens, or CCTs. The CCT standard gives tokens a consistent representation and movement mechanism across decentralized applications, rather than having each bridge maintain its own wrapped version of an asset. Why LayerZe...
