Anthropic launches $35M fund for open-source cyber defense

Anthropic is putting serious money behind the idea that AI should be used to defend software, not just write it. The company has unveiled Project Glasswing, a collaborative cybersecurity initiative backed by a fund targeting open-source security projects, alongside pledges of up to $100 million in model usage credits and $4 million in direct donations to open-source security organizations. The initiative brings together a consortium that reads like a tech industry all-star roster: AWS, Apple, Google, and Microsoft are all participating. At the center of the effort sits Anthropic’s unreleased Claude Mythos Preview model, which has already been put to work scanning codebases for vulnerabilities.
