AlphaSense bets on proprietary data and AI agents to compete with OpenAI

AlphaSense just closed a $350 million funding round at a $7.5 billion valuation, nearly doubling its previous $4 billion mark. The round was led by Vitruvian Partners, Accenture Ventures, and J.P. Morgan Asset Management, bringing AlphaSense’s total investment haul to over $1 billion. AlphaSense has aggregated over 500 million premium documents, including sell-side research reports, expert call transcripts, and other proprietary content that general-purpose models cannot access. AlphaSense reported annual recurring revenue exceeding $600 million for Q1 2026, up from $500 million in October 2025, a 20% jump in roughly six months. In June 2025, the company launched its “Deep Research” product, an autonomous AI agent capable of executing complex research workflows that pull from both web sources and AlphaSense’s proprietary content, with sentence-level citations tracing every claim back to a specific source document. In March 2026, AlphaSense rolled out Workflow Agents and custom AI agents built specifically for automated financial research and monitoring at enterprise scale.
